Preparation

The luting surfacees of Cercon restorations should be air-abraded before insertion (alumina,110 um, 3-4 bar). Improved bonding strength is produced by roughing the surface in conventional and adhesive luting.

Conventional or Adhesive?

Both, zinc phosphate and glass ionomer cements are suitable for conventional luting. A special conditioning of the die surface is not necessary in conventional cementing. According to current studies, conventional dual cements are not suitable for adhesive luting. In laboratory trials, a permanent bond could not be achieved with these products.

Tip

Based on current knowledge, the products Panavia F can be recommended for the adhesive luting of Cercon restorations.

Provisional luting of the Cercon restoration can be done with any temporary cement (e.g. Temp Bond, Kerr GmbH, Karlsruhe). If later adheisive luting is planned, use of a eugenol-free temporary cement is recommended.

Fine-grained diamond instruments (e.g. 8390.314.023 and 8860.314.012, Gebr. Brasseler, Lemgo) are recommended for adjusting the occlusal contact points. The following ceramic polishing sets are suitable for polishing the processed ceramic surface:

Dialite II Set, Gebr. Brasseler, Lemgo
NG Ceramic Polisher, Identoflex AG, Switzerland
